Learn how to make authentic New York Delicatessen style bagels and bialys in this fun, hands on, and interactive class! Bialys have long been a staple in New York delicatessens and a favorite of the Jewish community. A bialy is similar to a bagel, in that it is a round, chewy roll. But it is unlike a bagel in three important ways: One, it does not have a hole in the middle, but a depression usually filled with onions; Two, bialys never became popular outside of New York City; and Three, bagels are boiled and bialys are baked. We will explore how to prepare both of these amazing Deli treats as our Pastry Chef walks you through the techniques and tips to achieve the perfect end result! Then we will sit down and enjoy what we created in class!
